Biography
Otunba Oskar Ibru is the Managing Director of EMSEE SHIPPING LINES LTD, the operator of Ibru Jetty which is a veritable platform for the receipt, delivery and distribution of petroleum products by a host of oil companies such as Zenon, Total, Ascon, Sahara Energy etc.
His aristocratic background not withstanding, OCJI, as he is fondly called, was trained and nurtured with cautious humility befitting a would be “heir apparent “to the Ibru Dynasty” with this upbringing, Oskar sees himself as the son of a humble fisherman whose contributions to Nigeria’s economic and political development transcends the shores of Nigeria and the West African subregion.
Despite the time consuming and arduous task of administering and monitoring the Group’s projects, Oskar still finds time to serve the nation, He was a one-time member of the Board of Directors of voice of Nigeria (VON) and he is currently “Commissioner” for Special Duties, Boy’s Scout of Nigeria, Lagos State Headquarters. He is a member of board of Nigeria Chamber of Shipping. With Oskar’s inspiring success, he is seen as a role model to the younger generation.
A man of distinction, Oskar has received many awards for his meritorious service to humanity, which includes the “Awards for Excellence” conferred on him by Rotary international District9110, Nigeria on July 13, 2002. In 2004, he received the African Role Model Leadership Gold Award for the Best Private Jetty Operator. Same year, he emerged the Apapa industrialist of the year.
In May 2006, Otunba Oskar Ibru was again awarded the prestigious PAN AFRICAN ETHICS GOLDEN AWARD FOR INSPIRATION LEADERSHIP for excellent managerial skills and leadership qualities and for contributing immensely to the socio-political and economic development Nigeria.
An unassuming patriot, Oskar shares Martin Luther King’s philosophy that there are three dimensions of life;
- The center of life, which is the inward, concern and One’s Personal welfare.
- The breadth of life, which is the outward concern for the welfare of others
- The height of life, which is the upward reach towards God
His concern and care for himself and family is enviable. His love towards people is unparalled His attention to God is Absolute.
In recognition and appreciation of the various contributions to his community, the nation and mankind, Oskar was conferred with the two titles of Olorogun by His Royal Highness (HRH) the Ovie of Agbarha Otor Kingdom and His Royal Highness (HRH) the Owhorode of Olomu, Olomu Kingdom respectively in 2000. In April, 2006 Oskar was awarded a prestigatious chieftaincy title by the Ovie of Ughelli in Delta State.
Oskar is happily married to the pretty American lady, Yeye Boyejo (Mrs) Wanda Elaine Ibru (nee Swan) whom many believed coined her name from the English word “Wonderful” and who is behind Oskar’s growth from glory to glory. They are blessed with three beautiful children: MAKASHE, EBRUBA and NENESI.
Otunba Oskar Ibru was honoured with the exalted title of OTUNBA BOYEJO of Ijebuland by His Royal Majesty (HRM), Oba (Dr.) S.K. Adetona, the Awujale of ljebulan.
